Plot

Take on the role of a savvy entrepreneur and build your business empire from the ground up.
Construct vital infrastructures like roads, rails, and energy networks to connect cities and watch your empire grow.
Manage production chains, from raw materials to finished products, and decide whether to be a ruthless profit-maximizer or a consumer-friendly businessman.
Navigate a dynamic world of market fluctuations, expand your territory.

Will you build a lasting legacy or be known as a cutthroat tycoon?

Gameplay

The information below give you a brief glimpse into the gameplay that is currently planned. It is in no way representative of the final product!
Game development is very dynamic and plans can radically change at any time, this is just a brief overview of what the game might look like.

Production

In your business, production is one of the many tools at your disposal to expand your empire. By designing and managing efficient production chains, you can transform raw materials into a variety of consumer products to meet market demands. Decide how to best allocate your resources, optimize your production lines, and manage your workforce to keep the goods flowing and profits rising.

Are you ready to forge the path to prosperity?

Markets

Welcome to the world of markets, where every transaction holds the potential for massive gains or devastating losses. In your tycoon simulation, markets are dynamic arenas where you can trade goods, stocks, bonds, and contracts to shape your business empire. Whether you're offloading surplus products or speculating on prices - the markets offer endless opportunities for those willing to take risks.

Will you thrive as a shrewd trader, or will you risk it all on the stock exchange?

Cities

In your adventure, cities are more than just places on a map—they are bustling hubs of opportunity, filled with people who could become your loyal workforce or your stepping stones to immense wealth. As you expand your business empire, you'll have the power to shape the lives of the city dwellers, deciding whether to improve their living conditions and foster community growth or to exploit their needs to squeeze out every last bit of profit.

Will you be a benevolent tycoon, fostering prosperity, or will you prioritize profit at any cost? The fate of the cities, and their people, lies in your hands.

Infrastructure

Infrastructure is the backbone that supports your empire’s growth and efficiency.

You have the power to build and manage different kinds of infrastructure, each with its own capacity, demand and cost considerations.
Strategically decide where to invest in infrastructure to optimize transportation, reduce bottlenecks, and maximize economic benefits.

Your choices in infrastructure development will shape the destiny of your empire.

Trivia

Development started in the beginning of April 2021.
At that time, I was using the Unity game engine.

In October 2021, I decided to roll my own engine (Sparrow Engine) and stop using the Unity game engine.
There are many reasons for this step, but my main reason was that unity started feeling like an overloaded behemoth that is held together by the devs purely with duct tape.
A custom engine allowed me to use my skills gathered over the years in all areas of game development, and ultimately it turned out to be an interesting journey.

After some time developing the engine and sample projects with it, I concluded that the best way for the long-term future of Capitalist Empire would be to use this new, custom engine.
So, in January 2022, work to port the game has started and in the process of doing so, I did continue to develop the engine to be the perfect fit specifically for my needs. This resulted in much cleaner code, better performance and an overall better experience playing and developing the game.
Since then, the game has been in development next to my regular day job and freelancing work.
